Steve Coxon & Bad Earth

Originally formed as a quintet back in January 2014, BAD EARTH was the brain child of founding members Ren Stefan and Stephen Coxon who were looking to explore their musical creativity after a period playing together in a covers band. Based in Denbigh, North Wales , UK, the original line up performed their debut show under the name of HARD LINES. Labelled as a Stoner Rock band , they gained strong reviews from their local music scene playing their second gig opening fot US Stoner giants KARMA 2 BURN at Chester LIVE ROOMS. The name BAD EARTH was adopted when during a problematic rehearsal, buzzing caused disruption in the practice room, and after considerable cable pulling, it was determined that a " bad earth" in the electrical system was the cause, thus the name was conceived. Whilst retaining the Huge guitar Riff flavours of their "Stoner Rock" beginnings, BAD EARTH recruited Tim Luke Nicholls in 2019 to provide the pounding grooves on Bass and have moved into a fast tempo Hard Rock sound that takes influences from bands such as Motorhead, Clutch, Orange Goblin ,Red Fang, and Baroness delivering a no nonsense soundtrack to their live shows.

Steve became well known locally after taking over the reigns of the local Plug & Play nights held locally and one memory I have of him was his band playing an awesome open air set at one of the local festivals held outside the town Hall in Denbigh a little time before his band Bad Earth formed. It was obvious to me that he would go on to acheive great things, which he has proven, gigging up and down the UK Music scene.. A Hard working man with a hard working band to match!
